About: Dr. Mustafiz has joined BSMR Maritime University in May, 2019 as an Assistant Professor at the Dept. Of Oceanography and Hydrography, Faculty of Earth and Ocean Science. He is a coastal oceanographer and his research focus on understanding the interactions of the coastal organisms to their dynamic habitats. He is conducting a research project 'Fisheries diversity and environmental variables in waterways of the eastern mangrove forest (Sundarbans), Bangladesh' funded by University Grants Commission (UGC), Ministry of Education, Bangladesh.
Research Area:

Coastal Oceanography, Mangrove ecology, Fisheries Oceanography, Seaweed Aquaculture

Research Interests:

- Large scale climate variability in the north Pacific

- Seaweed (Kelp) aquaculture and ecology

- Marine ranching (artificial reef and sea reforestation)

- Fish population dynamics

- Ecosystem structure dynamics under climate change and variability

- Mangrove fisheries community

- Coral reef ecology

- Impact of river runoff on estuarine ecosystem

- Microplastic pollution in the coastal ecosystem
